Henry-Pierre Troussicot

“Inspiration is the excuse of the lazy,” said Georges Sand. Let’s be clear: in a signed painting there is 90 per cent craftmanship and 10 per cent creation.

Troussicot paints what he has learned to see with rigour, sobriety and discretion. Everything is composed, restrained, controlled, drawn and structured.

Influenced strongly by his great friend, the painter Roger Ducrot, he is part of the family of la Jeune Peinture, along with Gallard and Commère. Troussicot works quietly and passionately in this French realist tradition.
